Breakthrough Adventures is a faith-inspired nonproft that partners with foster youth and under-resourced young people on journeys of emotional healing and personal transformation. Guided by Christian values of hope and redemption, we use adventure-based experiences to help participants discover their worth, build resilience, and pursue God- given purpose.

Our Founder

Joe Houser is a Southern California native who grew up surfing, skating, exploring, and often finding himself in trouble along the way. Like many young people, he came from a broken home and wrestled deeply with feelings of rejection, loneliness, and not truly belonging.

Everything changed when Joe encountered the love of Jesus and experienced the life-changing grace of God. That transformation set him on a new path—one marked by faith, purpose, and a calling to serve others. Over the past 30 years, Joe has served as a missionary, pastor, and nonprofit leader dedicated to helping vulnerable and struggling youth find hope, healing, and direction. He has founded and led several nonprofit organizations focused on supporting marginalized young people and helping them overcome adversity.

As an avid lover of adventure, the outdoors, and personal growth, Joe believes true transformation often happens outside of comfort zones—through experiences that both challenge and encourage people to break destructive patterns, confront lies about themselves, and discover their true value and identity.

Driven by a deep passion for forgotten and marginalized youth, along with a lifelong love for nature and adventure, Joe founded Breakthrough Adventure to create life-changing experiences that inspire courage, healing, growth, and lasting transformation.
