Joe Houser is a Southern California native who grew up surfing, skating, exploring, and often finding himself in trouble along the way. Like many youth, he experienced the challenges of growing up in a broken home and struggled with feelings of rejection, loneliness, and not truly belonging. Everything changed when Joe encountered the love of Jesus Christ and experienced the life-changing grace of God. That transformation set him on a new path marked by faith, purpose, and a calling to serve others. For more than 30 years, Joe has served as a missionary, pastor, chaplain, and nonprofit leader dedicated to helping vulnerable youth and families find hope, healing, and direction. He has founded and led multiple nonprofit organizations, developed youth programs both locally and internationally, and served in more than 23 countries around the world. As an avid lover of adventure, the outdoors, and personal growth, Joe believes that lasting transformation often happens outside of comfort zones. Through experiences that challenge and inspire, young people can overcome limiting beliefs, build resilience, discover their true worth, and step into their God-given purpose. Driven by a passion for forgotten and marginalized youth, combined with a lifelong love of nature and adventure, Joe founded Breakthrough Adventures to create life-changing experiences that inspire courage, healing, growth, and lasting transformation.
